A New Voice of Life Through Cochlear Implant

Udaipur — Twelve-year-old Mohammad Ali, a resident of Hathipole, Udaipur, who was born with hearing and speech impairment, can now hear and speak like any other child. This transformation became possible through a free cochlear implant surgery performed in 2017 by the ENT department of Pacific Hospital, Bhilo Ka Bedla.

The cochlear implant brought a significant change to Mohammad Ali’s life. However, in May 2025, an unfortunate incident occurred when the external processor of his hearing device was accidentally damaged. Due to financial constraints, his family was unable to afford a new processor.

Responding with humanitarian sensitivity, Rahul Agrawal, Chairman of PMCH (Pacific Medical College & Hospital), made arrangements to replace the processor free of cost. This noble gesture restored not just Mohammad Ali’s ability to hear and speak again, but also brought immense relief and joy to his family.

The ENT department's Head Dr. Richa Gupta and Dr. S.S. Kaushik played a vital role in the process. Their technical expertise ensured the new processor functioned properly, helping the child resume a normal life.

On this occasion, Chairman Rahul Agrawal stated, "No child should remain deaf-mute simply because of hearing loss. We are ready to extend every possible support. Cochlear implants are a ray of hope for such children, whose lives can become normal with the help of this life-changing device."

It is worth noting that the ENT department at Pacific Hospital, Udaipur, has successfully performed over 75 cochlear implant surgeries, enabling children to regain their hearing and speech. This achievement stands as a remarkable milestone in the field of medical care.
