Udaipur's Government Schools Launch "Project Code for Change" to Equip Students for the Future

Udaipur,  In a groundbreaking initiative, a four-day training program under "Project Code for Change" was conducted for students at government schools across Udaipur district. This program, held at Shaheed Lieutenant Abhinav Nagori Government Higher Secondary School, Bhuvana, was organized with the collaborative efforts of District Education Officer (Secondary) Dr. Lokesh Bharti, Kailash Chandra Rawal from the School Entrepreneurship Institute, and School Principal Manish Soni. Students from all Mahatma Gandhi English Schools and PM SHRI schools in the district received training in cutting-edge fields such as Robotics, Coding, 3D Printing, Drone Technology, Solar Engineering, and PCB Chip Designing.

At the closing ceremony, Education Director Ashish Modi interacted with the students, engaging them in discussions about coding, parallel and series circuits, and inspiring them about the potential of new technologies. Dr. Lokesh Bharti, District Education Officer (Headquarters), and Principal Manish Soni were also present at the event.

The School Entrepreneurship Institute has been working for the past five years to provide high-quality STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education to tribal and remote areas of Udaipur. Currently, the institute runs three flagship programs in the district: Maker Lab, Code for Change, and STEM for Divyang (differently-abled students). Over the last three years, 12 Maker Labs have been successfully running in tribal areas of Udaipur and Salumber, offering students hands-on learning experiences in STEM subjects. The STEM for Divyang program at Abhilasha Special School and Code for Change programs at 32 government Mahatma Gandhi English Schools and PM SHRI schools in Udaipur are also part of this initiative.

For its exceptional contributions to STEM innovation, the School Entrepreneurship Institute was recognized and awarded by former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in the USA. Ashwini Tiwari, the founder of the institute, explained that the main goal of the organization is to ensure quality STEM education reaches all students in India, regardless of geographic or economic challenges, so no student is left behind.

As part of the "Code for Change" program, a four-day workshop was conducted at Government Secondary School Bhuvana, where 35 students from five schools learned the basics of robotics. Kailash Chandra Rawal, a representative from the institute, shared that 200 students from various schools would be trained as Robotics Club leaders, who will form clubs at their respective schools and lead robotics activities. These leaders will be trained on 180 activities throughout the year, which they will then teach to their peers. School principals and the local staff will support these club leaders in the effective operation of the clubs.

The primary objective of this initiative is to transform government schools in Udaipur district into hubs of scientific innovation and to prepare students as future technocrats and entrepreneurs.
