MPUAT Receives National Award for Excellence in Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Research

Udaipur - Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, has been honored with the 2021-22 National Award for the Best Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Research Project by the National Research Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants. Dr. Arvind Verma, Research Director at MPUAT, revealed that there are 26 centers for Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Research Projects across the country. MPUAT, Udaipur, received this award for its outstanding contributions to new research techniques, innovative research, farmer training, and technology dissemination.

The award, presented at the 31st Annual Review Meeting organized by Narendra Dev Agricultural and Technological University in Kumaraganj, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, from February 7-9, 2024, recognized the efforts of MPUAT in bringing new research technologies to farmers and facilitating the transfer of technology to the grassroots level.

During the event, Dr. Amit Dadhich, Project Coordinator, Dr. M. K. Kaushik, Dr. R. N. Bunkar, and Dr. Deepak Rajpurohit from MPUAT, Udaipur, were honored for their significant contributions to the research project. Dr. Ajit Kumar Karnataka, the Vice-Chancellor of MPUAT, emphasized that this award serves as inspiration for the entire team to continue developing research techniques for the benefit of farmers in the future.

It is noteworthy that MPUAT, Udaipur, received this award for the first time since the inception of the All India Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research Project in 1980. Dr. Ajit Kumar Karnataka expressed his commitment to the ongoing development of research technologies aimed at benefiting farmers in the future.
