### Mothers Should Breastfeed at Night Too: Dr. Sareen

**Udaipur** – On the third day of World Breastfeeding Week, a seminar focused on maternal and child health was organized at the Government Senior Secondary School in Shobagpura. The event was held under the joint auspices of Rotary Club Udaipur, Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital, and IAP Udaipur Branch. The session included discussions and a quiz to raise awareness. Rotary Club Vasudha participated actively in the event.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Devendra Sareen, Head of the Pediatrics Department, emphasized that mothers should ensure they breastfeed at night as well. Nighttime breastfeeding significantly increases milk production, making it essential for every mother to breastfeed their newborns at night.

Mrs. Sharad Rathore, President of Rotary Club Vasudha, welcomed the attendees and highlighted the importance of breastfeeding. Dr. Rajkumari Samar discussed the benefits of breastfeeding for mothers. Dr. Mohsin Khan spoke about the utility of mother milk banks, while Dr. Archit explained the composition of mother's milk. Dr. Lakshmi elaborated on the disadvantages of bottle-feeding.

Garima Bordia, Secretary of Rotary Club Vasudha, described maternal milk as equivalent to nectar. Shakuntala Porwal, Charter President of Rotary Club Vasudha and program coordinator, successfully conducted the program and emphasized the importance of not using formula milk. Dr. Bharat Sarupariya, Secretary of Rotary Club Udaipur, recommended exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months.

A quiz was also organized, and winners Minakshi, Hema, Neha, Asha, Afreen, Neha Kunwar, Chinu, Anita, Mansi, Sangeeta, Bhoomika, Lata, Rekha Kanku were awarded. Special attendees included Suman Porwal, Kiran Talesra, Kanklata, Sangeeta Tated, Rajni Sharma from Rotary Club Vasudha, and Sandeep Verma from Rotary Club Udaipur, along with school teachers Smita and Ranjana Chaudhary. The vote of thanks was delivered by school principal Sunita Dhankad. A discussion on breastfeeding with women from the railway station slum area is scheduled for Sunday at 3 PM.
