Cricket Mahakumbh to Begin from May 24 – Preparations Underway

Udaipur: For the first time, the Udaipur Division of the Chamber of Commerce is organizing a grand night cricket tournament in the city, titled "Cricket Mahakumbh", from May 24 to May 31, 2024, at Field Club Grounds. A total of 52 teams representing different trade associations of Udaipur will participate in this mega event. The inauguration will be done by international cricketer Ajay Jadeja, MP C.P. Joshi, and Royal Family member Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar.

Tournament Highlights:

Dates: May 24 to May 31, 2024

Timings: Daily from 5 PM to 1 AM

Venue: Field Club Grounds, Udaipur

Teams: 52 trade association teams with 13 players each

Age Limit: A maximum of 5 players under 30 years allowed per team

Match Format: Matches will be played with heavy tennis balls, and bowlers can bowl a maximum of 3 overs

Awards: Prizes for Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Man of the Match, and Man of the Series in every match

Winning Team: ₹71,000

Runner-up: ₹51,000

Third Place: ₹31,000

Punctuality Rule: Strict adherence to timing; walkover rule applicable in case of delays

Chamber President Paras Singhvi shared that this is the first time such a collective cricket event is being organized among registered trade bodies in Udaipur. Sanjay Bhandari has been unanimously appointed as the coordinator of the tournament. The core committee includes Paras Singhvi, Rajmal Jain, Himmat Badala, Sanjay Bhandari, Ashok Kabra, Kailash Soni, Devnarayan Dhyabhai, Rakesh Jain, Harish Chawla, Ajay Porwal, Bhanwarlal Suhalka, Brijlal Soni, Himanshu Gupta, Jagdish Menaria, Nitin Seth, Manoj Jain, and Jayesh Champawat.

Inauguration Ceremony:

Tournament convener Sanjay Bhandari informed that the opening will be graced by Ajay Jadeja, MP C.P. Joshi, and Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar. Other dignitaries expected include Rajya Sabha MP Chunni Lal Garasiya, Udaipur MP Mannalal Rawat, Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena, BJP District President Gajpal Singh Rathore, and Congress District President Fateh Singh Rathore. Former cricketer Ajay Ahirja has also accepted a special invitation from Chamber President Paras Singhvi.

Strengthening Trade Relations:

Publicity Minister Rakesh Jain mentioned that only members of registered trade associations will participate, making it a purely business-centric event. Thousands of spectators are expected each day. The event aims to strengthen inter-association relationships within Udaipur’s business community.
