Jaipur, – Mr. Rajat Verma, Senior Assistant Director (Handicrafts) from the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, visited the Fashion Designing Department of NIMS University. On this occasion, Prof. Amarika Singh, Pro Chancellor of NIMS University, Registrar Dr. Sandeep Tripathi, and Dr. Ashish Mathur extended a warm welcome to Mr. Verma by presenting him with a traditional *safa*, a shawl, and a memento as a token of respect.
During his inspection, a proposal to organize a special symposium on handicrafts at NIMS University was discussed. The purpose of this symposium is to promote discussions and innovation in the field of handicrafts and its techniques.
Under Mr. Verma's leadership, the work of promoting handicrafts in 21 districts of Rajasthan is being carried out, playing a crucial role in preserving and promoting traditional crafts in the region.
Mr. Sajjan Pal, Carpet Training Officer, and Mr. Saurabh, Handicraft Promotion Officer, were also present during the inspection. Mr. Verma engaged in discussions with the faculty members of the Fashion Designing Department on innovations in fashion and handicrafts, listening to their ideas. Special focus was placed on the coordinated progress of fashion designing and handicrafts.
Mr. Verma appreciated the efforts of the university and expressed hope for continued collaboration in the future. Such initiatives not only bring new ideas and directions to the field of handicrafts but also encourage exchange and cooperation between students and faculty.
