Indian New Year Celebrations Embrace Universality and Scientificity - Prof. Sharma

Udaipur : The Indian New Year, celebrated on the first day of the Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, stands not only on scientific grounds but also holds a universal significance, as the duration of Pratipada remains consistent across all places on Earth, unlike other calendars where dates change even within different parts of the Earth.

This was emphasized by Professor Bhagwati Prasad Sharma, the President of the Indian New Year Celebration Committee in Udaipur, during a press conference held on Wednesday to announce the grand procession and religious assembly to be held as part of the New Year celebrations. The press conference took place at Hotel Royal Historia on Shobhagpura Road.

He elaborated on the importance of the New Year celebrated on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, based on the Indian calendar and era, providing insights into its scientific significance.

According to him, Vikram Samvat 2081's Chaitra Shukla Pratipada will commence on April 8th at 11:50 PM and will continue till 8:30 PM on April 9th, universally applicable across all locations worldwide. Indian dates, based on various calendars, provide a universal reference point for scheduling activities due to their consistency across the globe.

Mr. Tripathi, the coordinator of the committee, mentioned that for the past two years, the grand procession and religious assembly held during the New Year celebrations have been organized in a magnificent manner. The event is jointly organized by the Indian New Year Celebration Committee and the Udaipur Municipal Corporation.

On the occasion of Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, Vikram Samvat 2081, Indian New Year will resonate with festivities in Udaipur on April 9th with the sound of conch shells heralding the occasion. A grand procession will depart from Fathe School at 3 PM. The procession will witness women singing auspicious songs as they carry pots. This year, the procession will start from a single location instead of three. The target is to distribute 41 thousand pots, with enthusiastic participation from the womenfolk.

Mr. Tripathi further revealed that the main procession would commence from Town Hall at 3 PM. It will include various floats, elephants, horses, motorcycle riders, traditional dancers, and wrestling displays. Over 100 floats representing different communities will be part of the procession. The committee has received support from every community for the New Year celebrations. Udaipur has been divided into 11 sectors to ensure comprehensive coverage of the event. Committees have been formed separately for flower decorations in homes, rangoli decorations, temple decorations, and street decorations. The entire event will be blessed by the saint community. For their blessings and guidance, a Saint Convention was organized recently.

Mr. Singhvi, Deputy Mayor and member of the committee, expressed gratitude, stating that every community in Udaipur is participating in the celebrations, making it a grand event. Also present at the occasion were Mr. Chaturbhuj from the Hanuman Temple, Mr. Indradev Das from the Magri Hanuman Temple, Mr. Govind Agarwal, Mr. Anand Pratap Singh from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, and former coordinators of the Celebration Committee, Mr. Vishnu Nagda and Mr. Kapil Chittaur.
