Takhman-28 Gives Away Awards and Prizes to Young Artists

Takhman-28, a prominent art gallery of Rajasthan and a vibrant centre for exploring, promoting,and showcasing experimental and contemporary art, organized an award ceremony of the secondDr. O.D. Upadhya Memorial State Art Competition for Students, along with an exhibition ofwinning paintings, on April 19, 2025. Sumita Saroch, Joint Director, Department of Tourism, Rajasthan, inaugurated the ceremony as chief guest. Eminent artists, Dr. Shail Choyal and Dr. Suresh Sharma, graced the occasion as special guests. Welcoming the guests and participants,Takhman’s Chairman, Dr. Vidhyasagar Upadhyay, congratulated the winners and highlighted the objectives and ongoing activities of the centre. Dr. Choyal appealed to the young artists to work ceaselessly to achieve their goals in the art field. Dr. Sharma expressed his delight over the presence of a large number of art lovers, educationists, and young art enthusiasts in the programme. Sumita Saroch, in her address as chief guest, praised Takhman for its efforts to promote art and support artists across the country. She assured that her department would strive to popularise Takman as a tourist attraction of Udaipur. In the competition, the artworks (paintings) submitted by 146 participants were evaluated by two panels of judges in two phases. The first panel comprised illustrious artists like Santosh Verma, Meenu Shrivastava, and Gaurishankar Soni; the second included celebrated artists like Abbas Batliwala, Sudhakar Velekar, and Lalit Sharma. The first three winners, Rudra Pratap Singh Jhala (Udaipur), Yamini Panchal (Partapur), and Taneesha Depra (Udaipur), were honoured with Prof. Suresh Sharma Award, Dr. R.K. Vashishtha Award, and Dr. Ghanshyam Goswami Award respectively with a cash prize of 15000 each. Yashraj Soni (Udaipur), Sanskar Panwar (Udaipur), and Mohit Suthar (Udaipur) were bestowed upon Prof. L.L. Verma Award, Upadyay Parivar Partapur Award, and Yuva Kala Ratna-the Art Pivot Award respectively with a cash prize of 10000 each. Kaini Sen (Udaipur), Ritu Rawat (Jaipur), Kunal Sen (Udaipur), and Anil Nagar (Kota) were laurelled with Shri Goverdhan Baba Award, Shri Ghanshyam Sharma Award, Dr. Vishnu Mali Award, and Dr. A.L. Damami Award respectively with a cash prize of 5000 each. The others who got Vimlesh Kapoor Memorial Prizes (sponsored by Kapoor Traders, Udaipur) included Priyanka Nandan (Banasthali), Rahul Yadav (Jaipur), Rani Devendra Prasad (Nathdwara), Hina Suthar (Udaipur), Vandana Sharma (Banasthali), Apoorva Chaudhary (Jaipur), Bhavesh Suthar (Udaipur), Harsha Soni (Udaipur), Hitisha Ameta (Udaipur), and Faheen Shaikh (Banswara). The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by the secretary of Takhman, Sandeep Paliwal. The programme was beautifully conducted by Kapil Paliwal. The in-house support was provided by Dr. Raghunath Sharma, Jayesh Sikligar, and Kenny Sen.
