Joint Protest by Udaipur Congress Against Derogatory Remarks on Tikaram Jully

Udaipur, A joint protest was held today by the Udaipur City and Udaipur Rural District Congress Committees against the derogatory and casteist remarks made by BJP leader and former MLA Gyandev Ahuja targeting Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully.

Udaipur Rural District Congress spokesperson Dr. Sanjeev Rajpurohit stated that the protest was organized following the directives of the Pradesh Congress Committee. It came in response to Ahuja’s objectionable comment and the symbolic act of cleansing the temple with Ganga water after Tikaram Jully—a Dalit leader—performed puja during the consecration ceremony of Lord Ram in Alwar.

Speaking to the media post-protest, District Congress President (Rural) Kachru Lal Chaudhary said,

“Such shameful acts are not just an attack on one individual, but an insult to millions of Dalits across the nation. This is an assault not only on Jully’s devotion but also on the soul of the Constitution, which grants equality and religious freedom to every citizen. In the 21st century, such casteist and inhumane thinking is a stain on civil society. The BJP's 'Parchi Sarkar' must clarify whether it supports this act or condemns it.”

Chaudhary further alleged that BJP leaders deliberately make such divisive statements to divert attention from real issues, stating the party is spreading social discord nationwide. He demanded a public apology from the BJP and disciplinary action against Ahuja.

Udaipur City Congress President Fateh Singh Rathore added,

“Is BJP now deciding who is worthy of worshipping in temples? Is their ‘cultural mission’ aimed at preventing Dalits from performing religious rituals? This incident reveals BJP’s persistent belief in treating Dalits as second-class citizens. Their actions violate the essence of Sanatan Dharma and the values Lord Ram stood for.”

Rathore called the BJP’s actions an outright attack on constitutional values, humanity, and the spirit of equality, demanding a public apology from the state government.

Rajasthan Pradesh Congress General Secretary Lal Singh Jhala remarked,

“This is not the first time BJP and RSS leaders have insulted Dalits. Gyandev Ahuja, a close associate of Modi, has once again exposed the anti-Dalit mindset of the BJP. The people of Rajasthan and the nation deserve an apology. The public will give them an apt reply in time.”

Following the protest, effigies were burned outside the District Collectorate as a symbolic demonstration.

Notable participants included Kachru Lal Chaudhary, Fateh Singh Rathore, former minister Dr. Mangi Lal Garasiya, PCC Vice President Suresh Shrimali, PCC General Secretary Lal Singh Jhala, Pankaj Sharma, PCC Secretary Dinesh Shrimali, Congress Spokesperson Dr. Sanjeev Rajpurohit, Arun Tank, Mohammad Ayyub, Dalpat Singh Chundawat, Najma Mevafrosh, Dinesh Dave, Deepak Sukhadia, Deepak Vyas, Sudhir Joshi, Laxmi Narayan Meghwal, Bhupendra Chauhan, Kushlesh Chaudhary, Mahendra Damor, Gopal Sarpata, Chandraveer Gurjar, Prashant Shrimali, Riaz Hussain, Vinod Jain, Sanjay Mandwani, Madan Singh Babarwal, Dr. Kaushal Nagda, Shanta Prince, Ajay Singh, Hari Singh Jhala, Dharmendra Rajora, Moti Lal Sharma, Titu Suthar, Ratan Lal Purbia, Dhanpal Jain, Sunder Lal Meena, Madhu Salvi, Santosh Prajapat, Ganesh Lal Meghwal, Panna Lal Meghwal, Om Prakash Gameti and many more office bearers and Congress workers.
