Technology to Manage Queues During Lok Sabha Elections

Udaipur,  As the voting day for the second phase of Lok Sabha General Elections 2024 approaches in Udaipur, the Election Department is leaving no stone unturned to increase voter turnout and provide convenience to voters. In this endeavor, a pilot project has been initiated to utilize software applications developed under the Payalit Project, which will enable voters to check the crowd situation at polling stations on the day of voting. This will allow voters to choose their voting time according to their convenience, thus avoiding unnecessary crowds. This facility will also save valuable time for voters.

In this regard, a VC meeting was organized at the District Collectorate office on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta, where relevant district election officials were provided with necessary instructions for queue management at polling stations on the day of voting.

District Election Officer Arvind Kumar Poswal explained that through the software link of the pilot project, voters will be able to see the crowd situation at their polling station in real-time. The software will be updated at intervals of 15 minutes through BLOs, which voters can easily view on their mobile phones. He emphasized the crucial role of the sweep team in the promotion of this facility.

Poswal further informed that this software application, developed in Jodhpur, will be used during the voting on April 26. Relevant BLOs will also be provided with training for this purpose, and a dedicated team will be prepared for data entry at urban polling stations.

He stated that approximately 300 polling stations in the urban areas of Udaipur City and Udaipur Rural constituencies will benefit from this facility. Voters will receive information about the real-time polling booth situation and queue status at polling stations. The District Election Officer urged all urban voters to utilize this facility on April 26, and officials were instructed to promote it extensively to ensure maximum utilization by urban voters.
