Surgical Excellence and Educational Conference at PIMS

Udaipur : The Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Umarda, successfully organized the "Surgical Excellence and Educational Conference 2025", focusing on imparting comprehensive training in suturing techniques—from fundamental concepts to the latest innovations.

The event was inaugurated by PIMS Chairperson Ashish Agarwal, who emphasized the necessity for all medical graduates to master basic suturing skills. He noted that the conference aimed to fulfill this need by offering hands-on workshops for postgraduate students, enabling them to learn essential suturing techniques.

Conference Chair and Head of General Surgery at PIMS, Prof. Dr. Prem Prakash Sharma, along with Organizing Secretary Dr. Ali Abbas Sabunwala, welcomed participants and provided detailed insights into the conference objectives.

Key dignitaries including Dr. Suresh Chandra Goyal (Principal & Controller, PIMS) and Dr. Prashant Nahar (President, Sai Tirupati University) addressed the audience, sharing knowledge on advanced suturing technology.

With the theme "Basic Suturing Skills", the conference featured lectures by senior faculty members from various medical colleges in Udaipur. They provided real-life examples while explaining techniques ranging from simple stitches to complex knots. Participants were trained in various suturing methods through live demonstrations and interactive sessions.

Academic activities during the event included a Postgraduate Poster Presentation and a PG Quiz Competition, which witnessed enthusiastic participation. Over 350 undergraduates, postgraduates, and practicing surgeons from six medical colleges registered for the CME and workshop.

At the closing ceremony, organizers announced plans to conduct more such educational conferences under the PIMS banner in the future. The primary objective is to ensure continuous excellence in surgery, keep current surgeons updated, and prepare the next generation with modern medical education.
