Entrepreneurial Opportunities Abound in Tailoring and Apparel Designing: Dr. Karnataka

Bhadsoda/Udaipur,  The valedictory ceremony of a vocational training program on “Tailoring and Apparel Designing” was held at the Shri Ratan Vridhi Motilal Mehta Charitable Trust in Bhadsoda, Chittorgarh. The impactful program was conceptualized and organized under the visionary leadership of Dr. S.L. Mehta, former Vice Chancellor of MPUAT and former Deputy Director General (Education) at ICAR.

Chief Guest Dr. Ajit Kumar Karnataka, Vice Chancellor of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, congratulated the rural women and girls for completing the training. He stated that the field of tailoring and apparel designing offers immense entrepreneurial potential. Career options include fashion and textile designing, running a boutique, computer-aided designing, quality control in the textile industry, government roles in women empowerment schemes, or working as a fashion consultant.

He praised Dr. S.L. Mehta for his unwavering dedication to education, rural upliftment, and social development, which continues to inspire generations.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of academic luminaries including Prof. I.V. Trivedi (former VC, MLSU, GGTU Banswara, and MPUAT) and Prof. U.S. Sharma (former VC, MPUAT, Udaipur), whose contributions enriched the event.

Dr. S.L. Mehta shared that the training was focused on practical skills and proficiency. The Trust also offers various initiatives like need-cum-merit scholarships, coaching for Navodaya entrance exams, computer literacy, communication skills, English speaking, and calligraphy. Over the years, hundreds of students have benefited from these efforts.

A total of 40 rural women and girls received training in stitching and garment making. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to them by the dignitaries.
