#### A Unique Tale of Love Showcased in ‘The Proposal’

Udaipur, A captivating theatrical performance of “The Proposal” was presented under the monthly theatre evening ‘Rangshala’, organized by the West Zone Cultural Centre (WZCC), Udaipur, on Sunday. The play received overwhelming appreciation from the audience, who filled the auditorium to capacity.

According to Furqan Khan, Director of WZCC, the play was staged by Anangari Theatre, Banswara at the Darpan Auditorium, Shilpgram, Udaipur, as part of the monthly series. Written by renowned Russian playwright Anton Chekhov and directed by Nareshpal Singh Chauhan, the performance brought forth an engaging blend of humor and human emotion.

The cast included Nareshpal Singh, Jagannath Teli, Arundhati Kalita, Manaswini, Adyaveer, Suraj Pratap Singh, Indrajit Singh, Kuldeep Singh, and Bhumi, whose energetic performances were widely appreciated.

The event was graced by Deputy Director (Programmes) Pawan Amaravat, C.L. Salvi, and several distinguished guests from the city. The evening concluded with a felicitation of all artists, and the program was compered by Siddhant Bhatnagar.

The Storyline:
“The Proposal” humorously depicts the tendency of wealthy families to form marital alliances for financial gain, reflecting the materialistic side of human relationships. The story begins with a young man proposing marriage to his neighbor’s daughter. However, what follows is a series of heated arguments between the two, later joined by the girl’s father, escalating the tension.

Amid their disputes — including one over whose dog is better — the play highlights how greed and the desire for wealth drive the decisions of affluent families, even at the cost of personal happiness. Through sharp dialogue and situational comedy, The Proposal offers a satirical glimpse into human nature and social ambition.
