Journalists Gather in Jaipur for Federation Elections and National Convention

In a bustling event in Jaipur, Rajasthan, journalists from across the nation convened for two significant gatherings on April 30 and May 1, 2024. The Rajasthan Forum of Working Journalists hosted the Federation Executive Committee elections, overseen by appointed chief elections officer Shankar Datt Sharma. The pre-election brainstorming session focused on drafting a memorandum outlining journalists' longstanding issues and demands, slated to be dispatched to top government officials.

Following the elections, attention turned to the National Journalists' Convention held at the Pink City Press Club on May 1, coinciding with Labor Day. Distinguished guests, including MLA Gopal Sharma and former Minister Raghu Sharma, addressed pressing matters such as journalist safety, health concerns, and the need for government support for smaller news publications. The convention underscored demands for the nationwide implementation of the Majithia Commission's recommendations and urged governments to provide financial support to senior journalists. The events marked a significant opportunity for journalists to voice their concerns and advocate for their rights on a national platform.
