Bhutte Khan Mesmerizes at Virasat 2024 Event

Udaipur, The Virasat 2024 event commenced with grandeur on Friday at the IT Auditorium, Pratapnagar, under the joint auspices of the IQAC Cell of Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth Deemed-to-be University and SPIC MACAY. The event started with the renowned Rajasthani folk welcome song "Padharo Mhare Des," captivating the audience. Renowned international Rajasthani folk singer Bhutte Khan enthralled the audience with a series of folk songs, including "Gorband," "Chhap Tilak Sab Chheeni," "Ladli Luma Jhuma," "Ghoomar," "Lal Kachhari Jugbandi," and concluded with the famous Rajasthani folk song "Nimbuda" and "Dama Dam Mast Qalandar."

The ceremony also honored D.K. Gupta and Dr. Devendra Singh Chauhan. Prior to the performances, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Colonel Shiv Singh Sarangdevot and Chief Bhawarlal Gurjar welcomed and introduced all the folk artists, presenting them with mementos.

Prof. Sarangdevot praised Bhutte Khan Manganiyar, noting his high caliber and dedication to folk tales. He emphasized that Khan has enchanted audiences in nearly 45 countries with his singing talent. Prof. Sarangdevot highlighted that music, culture, and heritage are the soul of any nation, comparing a person without these attributes to one who is mute and deaf, emphasizing the importance of cultural identity for any country. He mentioned that this program aligns with the UGC and NEP 2020 guidelines to promote Indian classical music.

Dr. Yuvraj Singh, IQAC Director, provided information about SPIC MACAY during the welcome sequence, explaining that it is a non-political, national, voluntary movement founded by Dr. Kiran Seth in 1977. Dr. Kiran Seth, an Emeritus Professor at IIT-Delhi, was honored with the Padma Shri in 2009 for his contributions to the arts.

Present at the event were Registrar Dr. Tarun Shrimali, Controller of Examinations Dr. Paras Jain, Dr. Yuvraj Singh Rathore, Prof. Malay Paneri, Prof. Saroj Garg, Prof. Manju Mandot, Dr. Bhawani Pal Singh Rathore, Dr. Dharmendra Rajora, Dr. Avneesh Nagar, Dr. Heena Khan, Dr. Neeru Rathore, Dr. Manish Shrimali, Dr. Hemendra Chaudhary, Dr. Amiya Goswami, Dr. Balidan Jain, Dr. Sunita Murdia, Dr. Ami Rathore, and several Deans and Directors of the Vidyapeeth.
