Udaipur, Following the state government's directions, the 9th International Yoga Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and grandeur in the Udaipur district on Wednesday, based on the theme "Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam." The enthusiasm for International Yoga Day was evident in the district headquarters and various block and village panchayat headquarters.
The district-level event, organized at Gandhi Grounds, began with the lighting of the lamp by District Collector Tarachand Meena and social worker Pankaj Kumar Sharma. During this time, under the guidance of the District Collector, all administrative officers, local representatives, and the general public actively participated in this grand event, making it a success.
District Collector Tarachand Meena highlighted the importance of Ayurveda and yoga and advised everyone to follow the prescribed rules. He called upon the people of Udaipur to incorporate yoga into their daily routine for a healthy and long life and receive the gift of a disease-free life by practising yoga daily. He praised the efforts of yoga expert Vaidya Shobhalal Audichya for organizing regular yoga programs and awareness activities in collaboration with the Department of Ayurveda and the Government Ideal Ayurvedic Pharmacy in Sindhi Bazaar.
During the event, Additional Director Dr Pradyumn Kumar Rajora explained that yoga helps maintain good physical and mental health. Principal Professor Mahesh Dixit emphasized the importance of regular yoga practice, while Deputy Director of the Ayurveda Department, Dr Badri Narayan Meena, also highlighted the significance of yoga. Over 8,000 participants of all ages and groups practised yoga in the district-level event. Additionally, over one lakh people participated in yoga programs at more than 30 locations in blocks, village panchayats, and the city, benefiting from yoga and promoting good health.
On this occasion, many residents of the city, including District Collector (Urban) Prabha Gautam, former Principal of RNT College Dr Lakhn Posawal, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Shankarlal Bamaniah, Assistant Director of Ayurveda Department Dr Bhupendra Sharma, Assistant Director Dr Satyendra Singh, Lieutenant Commander Premshankar Shrimalli from NCC, and social worker Girish Bharti, along with numerous yoga enthusiasts, demonstrated the ideal of a disease-free life by practising yoga.
The following yoga practitioners conducted the yoga sessions: Program Coordinator and Senior Ayurvedic Officer Vaidya Shobhalal Audichya informed that the first PhD holder in the field of yoga from Sukhadia University and Assistant Professor Dr Shubha Surana from Sun College provided minute-to-minute information on yoga protocols and conducted the practice. During this time, male and female yoga practitioners on both stages demonstrated yogic activities while conducting the practice.
