Home Scientists Meet in National Workshop at MPUAT Udaipur

 Udaipur :  the inaugural function of XXIII Biennial  Workshop of All India Coordinated Research Project on Home Science, was organised in the College of Community  and Applied Sciences, Maharana Pratap Agriculture and Technology University, Udaipur. The Chief guest of the program was Prof. N. S. Rathod, Deputy Director General, (Education), ICAR, New Delhi. The program was chaired by Prof. U.S. Sharma, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, MPUAT, Udaipur. In his address, Prof. Rathod said that the purpose of this workshop is to analyze the achievements and decide the way forward of the project. He emphasized that for successful, a scientist should be objective, responsible, aware, fair, transparent, equitable, efficient and inclusive. He said that technologies development under AICRP-Home Science should be farmer friendly, have marketability and should be recognized nationally.

In the beginning of the program, Prof. Abhay Kumar Mehta, Director Research welcomed the guests and participants and informed that in this workshop, 70 scientists from 11 States of the country are participating. Prof. Uma Shankar Sharma, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, MPUAT, Udaipur said that organization of such workshop gives new direction to the scientists. The technologies generated under the project has helped in development of rural women. Dr. Ritu Singhvi, Dean College of Community and Applied Sciences highlighted the activities of the college while expressing gratitude for participating guests and delegates in the program. She told that after changing the name of the college from College of Home Science to College of Community and Applied Sciences, the boys are also getting admission in a good number. She stated that probably it is the first college of Rajasthan where boys are having reservation on 25 % seats.

On this occasion, the reading material prepared by the scientists on various topics of home science was also released. At the end of the program, organizing secretary Prof. Suman Singh thanked all the guests and participants. The newly established "Rural Technology Center" was also inaugurated in which women friendly technologies were displayed.
