Udaipur – In a remarkable display of medical excellence and patient resilience, 37-year-old Abhinav Bajpai has made a full recovery from a rare neurological disorder of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) after months of intensive treatment at Paras Health, Udaipur.
Abhinav’s ordeal began in September 2024 when a sudden bout of general weakness progressed into complete paralysis. Diagnosed with the rare AMAN (Acute Motor Axonal Neuropathy) variant of GBS, he lost control over all four limbs and was unable to breathe on his own. Admitted to a hospital in Ahmedabad, he remained on ventilator support for six months with minimal signs of improvement.
In January 2025, hoping for a new direction in care, he was transferred to Paras Health, Udaipur. At the time of admission, Abhinav was fully ventilator-dependent and bedridden, with little to no mobility. Under the supervision of Dr. Manish Kulshreshtha, he was placed on a holistic and highly coordinated treatment plan.
“Our treatment plan was designed to support Abhinav’s recovery on every level. The AMAN variant of Guillain-Barré Syndrome affects the motor nerves and can lead to sudden, severe paralysis, often requiring ventilator support. In Abhinav’s case, we focused on rebuilding his strength from the ground up, using respiratory therapy to support his breathing, structured physiotherapy to slowly regain mobility, and continuous monitoring to track every small improvement. Just as important was the emotional care. We stood by him through the ups and downs because healing from such a condition is as much about restoring hope as it is about restoring movement,” shared Dr. Manish Kulshreshtha, Senior Neurophysician at Paras Health Udaipur.
Weeks into the new treatment, Abhinav began to show subtle yet encouraging signs of progress. His breathing grew stronger, and movement slowly returned to his limbs.
Today, Abhinav is completely off the ventilator, able to walk with less assistance, and is living a normal life once again, a reality that once seemed unattainable.
Expressing his gratitude, he said, “The team at Paras Health not only gave me hope but walked with me every step of the way in my healing journey. I can breathe on my own, move freely, and live independently — that means everything.”[1]
