Summer Fun Day Echoes with Children’s Voices: Cochlear Implant Gives New Life

Udaipur : A heartwarming Summer Fun Day was organized by the ENT Department of Pacific Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) with the aim of bringing joy and light into the lives of hearing-impaired children. This special event was designed exclusively for children who have benefited from Cochlear Implants, with eight such children actively participating.

The main objective of the event was to connect these children with social and cultural activities while boosting their self-confidence. Activities such as dance performances, musical acts, and games were enthusiastically embraced by the children, making it a memorable experience. For many, it was not just an event—it was a new beginning, a moment where they could connect with the world using their own voices.

On this occasion, PMCH Chairman Rahul Agrawal announced an allocation of ₹3 crore to strengthen the Cochlear Implant program, emphasizing that no child should be left unheard.

Dr. M.M. Mangal highlighted the transformative power of the Cochlear Implant technology, calling it a blessing for children born with hearing and speech disabilities. Dr. Richa Gupta, Head of the ENT Department, added that with proper care and consistent speech therapy, these children can lead normal lives.

Dr. S.S. Kaushik, Cochlear Implant Surgeon, stressed the need for continuous monitoring and support, a responsibility PMCH is committed to fulfilling. During the event, beneficiaries were provided with free speech therapy and audio-visual therapy sessions.

A team of medical experts conducted one-on-one evaluations with the children, assessing their progress and offering tailored guidance to parents. The emotional high point of the event came when parents shared their touching experiences—how hearing their child’s laughter and voice for the first time felt nothing short of a miracle. Many expressed deep gratitude for the new life these implants have gifted their children.

Also present were PMCH Principal Dr. U.S. Parihar, ENT specialists Dr. Mahesh, Dr. Shweta, and the entire staff, who contributed to the success of the program.
