Udaipur Centre Receives 10 Accession Numbers for Wild Edible & Medicinal Mushroom Germplasm Collection

The 27th Annual Workshop (2024-25) of the All India Coordinated Research Project on Mushrooms was successfully organized at the College of Agriculture, Pune, under the Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, Maharashtra. A total of 33 centres associated with the Directorate of Mushroom Research (DMR), Chambaghat, Solan, participated and presented their annual reports.

Prof. Narayan Lal Meena, the Project In-Charge from the Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur, also presented the annual report of the Udaipur Centre. He informed the house that their team had collected 67 germplasm samples of wild edible and medicinal mushrooms from various regions of Rajasthan, and submitted them to the Directorate of Mushroom Research for accession number registration.

As a result, 10 Accession Numbers (Mushroom Licenses) were officially granted to the Udaipur Centre, making it the highest contributor in terms of germplasm deposition among all centres.

During the workshop, several dignitaries including Dr. S.K. Pandey, Assistant Director General, ICAR, Dr. V.P. Sharma, Director, DMR, Dr. Vikramaditya Pandey, Principal Scientist, ICAR New Delhi, and Dr. Swetkamal, Principal Scientist at DMR Solan, praised the Udaipur centre for its extensive work in mushroom germplasm collection, accession number achievement, and efforts in mushroom extension activities.
