Udaipur : To commemorate the 485th birth anniversary of Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap, a solemn tribute event was organized by the Directorate of Student Welfare, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT) on May 29, 2025, at the Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Udaipur. The event took place in front of the grand equestrian statue of Maharana Pratap located in the college premises.
The ceremony was led by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Ajeet Kumar Karnatak, and attended by university officials, Deans of constituent colleges, faculty members, officers of student welfare, office bearers of non-teaching staff associations, students, and staff members. Participants offered floral tributes and garlands to the portrait of Maharana Pratap.
The NCC and Scout volunteers escorted the chief guest to the statue. Dr. Karnatak, along with distinguished guest historian Shri Haridatta Sharma, was welcomed with a shawl and bouquet by Dr. Manoj Mehla, Director of Student Welfare. Dr. Mehla welcomed all the dignitaries and emphasized that Maharana Pratap continues to be a source of inspiration for all.
In his address, Dr. Ajeet Kumar Karnatak illustrated how modern individuals still struggle with various challenges and how the life and values of Maharana Pratap remain relevant in solving these dilemmas. He described Maharana Pratap as a brave warrior and wise ruler whose contributions to agricultural development are also notable. He urged further research on “Vishwavallabh”, a historic text authored by Chakrapani during Maharana Pratap’s time.
Historian Shri Haridatta Sharma, in his address, spoke about Maharana Pratap’s bravery, diplomatic skills, moral discipline, and unwavering struggle for freedom. He emphasized that these qualities should guide and inspire present and future generations. He highlighted three key aspects of Maharana Pratap’s life, urging everyone to adopt his spirit of public awakening and selfless leadership.
Dr. S.S. Sisodia, Head of the Department of Extension Education and member of the Pratap Research Chair, discussed the legacy of the Sisodia dynasty and Maharana Pratap’s crucial role in the history of Mewar.
Students of various constituent colleges of MPUAT contributed to the event through poems and motivational stories based on Maharana Pratap’s life.
