Reconstitution of Assembly Committees a Routine Process – Jogeshwar Garg

Jaipur,  Government Chief Whip in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, Jogeshwar Garg, stated that MLA Govind Singh Dotasara is making an inappropriate and unsuccessful attempt to gain political mileage by resigning from the membership of a legislative committee. Garg clarified that during the Assembly session, Speaker Vasudev Devnani was empowered to reorganize the committees, under which he reconstituted them and also changed some chairpersons.

He emphasized that such changes in Assembly committees are a natural and regular part of parliamentary proceedings, and similar practices have been followed in accordance with legislative traditions in Rajasthan.

Dismissing the rumors, Garg said it is being wrongly propagated that Narendra Budania has been removed from his chairpersonship. In reality, Budania has merely been reassigned from one committee to another. The same process has been applied to three other BJP MLAs as well.

Garg further asserted that Dotasara’s resignation is a failed attempt to politicize a routine process. He reminded that Dotasara was expelled from the House in the previous session due to his unparliamentary and condemnable behavior. When asked to apologize, Dotasara used highly inappropriate language towards the Chair and refused to express regret.

After several days of deadlock, reconciliation occurred following discussions between Leader of the Opposition Tikaram Jully and Chief Minister and Leader of the House Bhajanlal Sharma. Jully expressed regret over Dotasara’s conduct and requested the Chair to revoke his expulsion, which was immediately accepted.

Garg concluded by saying that Dotasara never truly accepted this decision in spirit and has not participated in the Assembly proceedings even once since then. Effectively, he has boycotted all legislative activities, making his resignation meaningless and his conduct highly objectionable.
