Cricket Tournament Organized on World No Tobacco Day

Udaipur, On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, a special awareness cricket tournament titled “Say No to Tobacco, Yes to Health” was organized in Udaipur with the goal of spreading awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco. The friendly yet purposeful event saw enthusiastic participation from doctors, social workers, and entrepreneurs, uniting under one cause — a tobacco-free society.

The participants took a collective pledge to raise awareness among at least 100 people each about the physical and financial damages caused by tobacco use. They committed to gathering people in their families and residential communities to educate them and encourage them to pledge to quit all forms of tobacco consumption.

Dr. Manoj Mahajan’s team emerged victorious in the tournament, delivering a remarkable performance. Sawan Dosi was honored with both the “Man of the Series” and “Best Batsman” titles for his exceptional play.

Receiving the trophy, Dr. Manoj Mahajan, a senior cancer specialist, emphasized that tobacco is one of the leading causes of cancer in India, particularly oral cancer. He stated, “If we say no to tobacco today, we can save thousands of lives tomorrow.”

Dr. Saurabh, a dental expert, added, “Tobacco ruins not only oral health and aesthetics but also leads to deadly diseases like cancer and tuberculosis.”

Orthopedic specialist Dr. Sujay Gupta and cancer expert Dr. Ankur Sharma echoed the sentiment, stressing that tobacco is extremely harmful to health and only by distancing ourselves from it can we move toward a healthier life.

This tournament also marked the official launch of a broader public campaign titled “Say No to Tobacco, Yes to Health.” As part of the campaign, all team members have pledged to conduct a door-to-door awareness drive over the next week to inform people about the dangers of tobacco and promote a healthier lifestyle.

The players who took this impactful pledge include Dr. Manoj Mahajan, Dr. Saurabh, Dr. Ankur Sharma, Dr. Sujay Gupta, Dr. Jagmohan Nagar, Kapil Verma, young entrepreneur Pranay Goyal, Awais Ali, Punit Mukhija, Divyendu, Sawan Dosi, Sohan Prajapat, Narendra, Hadmat, Kishan, and Lokesh.

The initiative stands as a shining example of how sport can be a powerful medium for public health awareness and social change.
