#### Gautam Adani Salutes Lifeguards at Puri Coast

Puri, Odisha –The golden sands of Puri are not just a tourist attraction but also a shining example of tradition and dedicated service. For over a hundred years, the Nolia community—traditional fishermen of Puri—have been risking their lives to save those of others along the shoreline. Recently, Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, visited these brave lifeguards, extending both praise and much-needed support.

Accompanied by his wife Priti Adani and son Karan Adani, Gautam Adani visited Puri for the darshan of Lord Jagannath, participated in Rath Yatra services, and volunteered at ISKCON's kitchen for Mahaprasad seva. However, the most impactful moment of the trip was his meeting with the lifeguards on the beach.

Guardians of the Coastline
With over 450 active lifeguards, the Nolia community safeguards thousands of tourists and pilgrims who flock to Puri’s beaches daily. Once scattered across various informal groups, these lifeguards now operate under the unified banner of the Puri Beach Lifeguard Federation, formed by six local organizations. Their service spans the entire coastline, including the renowned Blue Flag beach zones.

Listening, Understanding, Supporting
During his visit, Gautam Adani personally interacted with the lifeguards, hearing about their challenges—particularly the lack of essential safety equipment and formal training. In response, the Adani Group distributed vital gear including life jackets, ropes, torches, and more. Sanitation workers of the local municipality also received fluorescent safety jackets and equipment.

This marks the first time a major business leader or corporate group has formally acknowledged and aided the lifeguards of Puri. Gautam Adani’s initiative has been seen as a gesture of not just generosity but deep sensitivity toward community service.

“The Nolia lifeguards of Puri serve with tireless dedication. We stand committed to their safety and well-being,” said Adani.
