Udaipur: the Maharani Virad Kanwar Memorial Rajwadi Geet Competition was organized at Bhupal Nobles Postgraduate Girls College, a constituent unit of Bhupal Nobles Institute, under the joint auspices of Bhupal Nobles Institute and the Student Union. The chief guest Colonel Prof. Shiv Singh Sarangdevot, who was also the officiating chairperson, inaugurated the program. Eklingsingh Jhala, former Student Union President, and distinguished guests Dr. Mahendra Singh Rathore and Mohabbat Singh Rathore lit the lamp in front of Goddess Saraswati. Dr. Shilpa Rathore, the head of the Social Science and Humanities department, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of the Maharani Virad Kanwar Rajwadi Geet Competition.
Colonel Prof. Shiv Singh Sarangdevot, the chief guest, emphasized the cultural foundation of Rajwadi songs, discussing the deep connection between the songs and the local life. He praised the unique sweetness, rhythm, and melody of Rajwadi songs, stating that they provide new inspiration to life.
Dr. Mahendra Singh Rathore, the special guest, shared memories of Maharani Virad Kanwar, expressing that she was well-versed in music and received special affection during her childhood. He believed that this competition would keep her memories alive among us forever.
Eklingsingh Jhala, the former Student Union President and the program's chairman, encouraged the participants, emphasizing the need to understand the context of Rajwadi songs to grasp their essence. Mohabbat Singh Rathore, the Director of Administration, portrayed Rajwadi songs as the heritage of culture.
The decisive judges of the competition were Prof. Seema Rathore, Dr. Hitesh Gaur, and Marisha Joshi Dixit. Dr. Anita Rathore, the program coordinator, provided detailed information about Maharani Virad Kanwar's life, highlighting her role in preserving traditional values.
The winners of the competition were Anjali Jain from B.N.P.G. Girls College, Udaipur, and Sumit Mandal from B.N.P.G. College, Udaipur. The event was attended by Dr. Prem Singh Ravalot, Dr. Renu Rathore, Ritu Tomar, Dr. Madhavi Rathore, Dr. Aparna Sharma, Dr. Jyotiraditya Singh Bhati, Dr. Garima Babel, along with members from other departments and students.
