The exhibition was inaugurated by Zila Pramukh Mamta Kunwar and Mavli MLA Pushkar Dangi by cutting the ribbon and lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Addressing the gathering, Zila Pramukh Mamta Kunwar said that National Unity Day is celebrated every year on October 31, dedicated to the great leader Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who unified the scattered princely states into one India. She urged the youth to draw inspiration from Sardar Patel’s indomitable willpower and work for national interest. She added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government is continuously striving to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach the last person in society, both in rural and urban areas.
Mavli MLA Pushkar Dangi, in his address, highlighted that Sardar Patel was not only India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister but also the Iron Man of India, who laid the foundation of modern India. He noted that the Statue of Unity in Gujarat stands as a symbol of India’s integrity and unity. He emphasized that National Unity Day reminds us that India’s true strength lies in its diversity — different languages, cultures, religions, and attire, yet one spirit.
Professor Dr. Amit Dave of Lokmanya Tilak Teacher Training College gave a detailed presentation on the life and ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, emphasizing his political acumen, determination, and strong leadership that led to the unification of princely states into the Indian Union. He recalled that Patel’s decisive actions post-independence stabilized the nation during turbulent times.
Superintendent Swaroop Singh from the Central Goods and Services Tax Department, Udaipur, informed the audience about direct and indirect taxes and explained the recent GST reforms implemented by the Government of India. He mentioned that the new GST rates effective from September 22 have reduced the prices of daily-use items. The abolition of the 12% and 28% tax slabs has brought major relief to small traders and common citizens.
