Tax Professionals Play Key Role in Nation Building: Kataria

Udaipur — The 75th Foundation Day of the Udaipur Tax Bar Association was celebrated with grandeur and dignity at the Tax Bar Bhawan in Chitrakoot Nagar. Punjab Governor and Administrator of Chandigarh, Gulabchand Kataria, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

In his address, Governor Kataria emphasized the crucial contribution of tax professionals to nation building. He remarked that chartered accountants and tax consultants are the unsung heroes behind India’s economic development. Their dedicated efforts have led to consistent growth in tax revenue, with income tax and GST collections exceeding budgetary targets annually.

He noted that due to such contributions, India has emerged as the world’s fourth-largest economy, and with continued progress, the country is poised to become the leading global economy even before 2047. Kataria also recalled the collective strength shown by citizens during national crises such as the Kargil war, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the recent cowardly acts by Pakistan, where the people stood shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces.

The event also witnessed the felicitation of senior members who have completed 25 and 50 years of dedicated service to the association. Kataria extended congratulations to all members and praised the organizing team, including Gautam Sukhlecha, Convenor Sudhir Mehta, and young volunteers. He encouraged the association to nurture its younger generation by offering them leadership opportunities to secure the organization’s future.

Association President CA Gautam Sukhlecha informed that the day began with a motivational session led by Ashish Singhal, who spoke on themes such as work-life balance, stress-free living, and positive thinking. This session was conducted by Pawan Talesra.

In the second session, President Sukhlecha welcomed dignitaries including Chief Guest Gulabchand Kataria, motivational speaker Ashish Singhal, and members of Shri Vardhman Madariya Oswal Sangh. He emphasized that the association has maintained a unique tradition for 75 years of appointing office bearers through consensus rather than elections, fostering unity and harmony. Currently, the association has over 325 members. It was originally founded on June 29, 1951.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by General Secretary Anshul Jain and masterful stage coordination by CA Pankaj Jain.

Prominent attendees included Ashish Kothari, Khushboo Malviya, Mahesh Menaria, D.S. Babel, CS Nenawati, Shailesh Maheshwari, Ashish Ratnawat, CP Bansal, Anand Pagaria, Kalpesh Jain, R.L. Kunawat, S.C. Ajmera, S.S. Singhvi, Nirmal Singhvi, Manohar Lal Menaria, Amit Tiwari, Sunil Agarwal, Ramesh Garg, Deepak Prajapat, and many others from the Tax Bar family, totaling over 250 participants.

To promote environmental consciousness, Gulabchand Kataria also led a tree plantation drive, with 151 saplings planted in collaboration with Sudhir Mehta.
