On the occasion of Maharana Pratap Jayanti in the city of lakes Udaipur, an amazing gathering of present and former Speakers of the Legislative Assembly of Udaipur region was held in the presence of Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Kishanrao Bagde and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Vasudev Devnani at Vardhman Mahavir Open University.
On this occasion, in the program organized on the topic "Vidhan Sabha yesterday, today and tomorrow", there was a detailed discussion on the positive changes and functioning of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. Especially the innovations of the current tenure of Speaker Vasudev Devnani and the innovative efforts made during the tenures of former Speakers of the Legislative Assembly were appreciated. The current Speaker of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Vasudev Devnani, former Speaker Shantilal Chaplot, Kailash Meghwal, Dr. C P Joshi and the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Kailash Sodani were also present in the program.
It is noteworthy that Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani has lived in Udaipur's Vidha Bhavan Institute for a long time and he considers Udaipur as his home along with his hometown Ajmer. Similarly, among the former Assembly Speakers, Dr. C P Joshi is from Udaipur and Nathdwara (Rajsamand) but has been a professor at Sukhadia University,Udaipur for many years. Veteran Kailash Meghwal has also won elections from Mewar and has also been a well-known lawyer of Udaipur. Shanti Lal Chaplot has been an MLA from Mavli, the traditional seat of former Assembly Speaker late Niranjan Nath Acharya, and an MP from Udaipur. He is a well-known advocate and a resident of Udaipur.
