Three-Day Symposium on Udaipur Foundation Day Commences with Panel Discussion"

Under the auspices of Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth and Lok Jan Seva Sansthan, a symposium on the natural beauty and heritage of Udaipur was organized as part of the pre-evening festivities of Udaipur Foundation Day. The program coordinator, Dr. Manish Shrimalli, mentioned that Lok Jan Seva Sansthan has been celebrating Udaipur Foundation Day for the past 20 years. Continuing in this tradition, a program aimed at raising awareness for the conservation of Udaipur's nature and heritage was organized.

The event commenced with an introduction to the organization and its activities by Secretary General Jaykishan Chaube. The keynote speakers for the event included Dr. P.C. Jain, former Vice Chancellor of M.P. University, Prof. Umashankar Sharma, and Prof. Mishrilal Mandot, with Colonel Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot serving as the program chairperson. Prof. Vimal Sharma extended a warm welcome to the guests.

Prof. Mishrilal Mandot highlighted that Udaipur's foundation was laid during a period of disorder and chaos but has gained recognition worldwide for its natural beauty and cultural heritage. Preserving this identity poses a challenge for the present generation. He emphasized the need to conserve water bodies like lakes, which are integral to Udaipur's economic, cultural, and religious fabric.

Dr. P.C. Jain reminisced about his childhood days when there was a beautiful garden near Rana Pratap Station, adorned with lush greenery, diverse butterflies, and fish in the Ayad River. However, he lamented that this venue has now turned into a drain. He emphasized the importance of preserving Udaipur's natural beauty and heritage, stating that the city's eight districts and Ayad River are not only its beauty but also its legacy.

Prof. Umashankar Sharma emphasized that Udaipur's development was planned with a futuristic vision. Today, the city is known worldwide for its natural beauty, cultural richness, and historical heritage. He highlighted that the city's lakes are the lifeline of its economy and culture. The plans conceived by Maharana for connecting the lakes are still worthy of emulation.

Prof. K.K. Kumawat, from the university, mentioned that during the opening remarks, Colonel Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot stressed that in the rapidly advancing era of urbanization, the city is losing its ancient identity. It is the civic duty of citizens to preserve this heritage. If we want to maintain Udaipur's status as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, we must conserve water, land, and hills.

The symposium was moderated by Dr. Kulsheshkar Vyas, and it saw the participation of various dignitaries, including Prof. Pradeep Trikha, Chhaganlal Bohra, Laxman Karnavat, Ganesh Nagda, Shri Ratn Mohata, Indra Singh Ranawat, Ugr Sen Rao, Manohar Lal Mundra, Narayan Paliwal, Soyab, Manohar Ji Purohit, and Govind Od.
