Ramganjmandi,Public awareness about eye donation is increasing steadily. Now, in many instances, families of the deceased voluntarily step forward to donate the eyes of their loved ones, bringing a sense of peace to their sorrow.
A similar inspiring act was witnessed in Ramganjmandi’s Bazaar No. 2 following the sudden demise of Ajit Shah, known for his gentle demeanor and dedication to social service.
Upon hearing the news, Shine India Foundation's Jyoti Mitra Pradeep Soni contacted the family, and along with Sanjay Vijayavat, convinced them for the eye donation. Fortunately, Ajit Shah and his elder brother Mahavir Shah had already pledged their eyes long ago. Thus, Ajit's wife Urmila, sons Nitesh and Gaurav, and daughter Bharati promptly gave their consent.
Upon receiving the go-ahead, Dr. Kulwant Gaur drove the eye collection van himself from Kota to Ramganjmandi — a distance of 80 km — amid extreme heat and the intensity of Rohini Nakshatra. The eye retrieval was successfully conducted at the residence with the support of Mahavir Shah, Akshay Shah, Yashwant Shah, Deepak Parashar, and Vivek Bhatia.
City Coordinator of Shine India Foundation’s Ramganjmandi branch, Sanjay Vijayavat, informed that as a result of the awareness drive, 65 eye donations have taken place in the region so far.
Accident on the Way Back – Team Steps In to Rescue Victims
While returning from the eye donation drive, Dr. Kulwant Gaur and associate Dheeraj Sharma witnessed a serious accident in the Dara valley, where a speeding truck collided with a taxi heading from Jhalawar to Ajmer amid strong winds and rain.
Without hesitation, they stopped their vehicle and rushed to help the injured, bringing them to Maitri Hospital in Kota for first aid. Among the injured was Mukesh, an Assistant Engineer in the Jhalawar State Electricity Department, along with his wife Anjana, son Neel, and daughter Nehal. The children suffered facial injuries due to shattered glass, and blood loss was significant.
After receiving medical attention, the family resumed their journey toward Ajmer.
