Dr. Mahima Birla Secures Three Copyrights in Management Innovation

Ahmedabad: Demonstrating her deep-rooted expertise in management education and industry-oriented research, Dr. Mahima Birla, Director of Narayana Business School and Head of its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), has successfully published three significant copyrights in the field of management studies. These original works have been formally registered and approved by the Copyright Office under the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, Government of India.

The most recent addition to her academic contributions is the 2024 copyright titled "Optimizing Manufacturing Gemba and 5S in Nagpur Textile Business." This work presents an in-depth micro case study focused on enhancing manufacturing processes using the Gemba and 5S techniques, specifically tailored to the textile industry in Nagpur. It offers practical insights and solutions for industry professionals aiming to streamline operations and improve workplace efficiency in traditional textile sectors.

Dr. Birla’s copyrighted works are considered valuable educational tools, particularly in management education, where they serve as micro case studies providing real-world perspectives. These tools not only deepen academic understanding but also help in skill development by offering students hands-on exposure to industry intricacies.

Before this recent achievement, Dr. Birla had already secured two copyrights in 2022. The first, "Catering and Food Management Solution," presents innovative methods for improving food services and catering operations. The second, "Jewelry Production Process Improvement Techniques," focuses on refining production workflows within the jewelry industry, highlighting practical techniques for enhanced productivity and quality control.

All three works were developed in collaboration with other scholars and domain experts across India, reflecting a spirit of academic cooperation and interdisciplinary research. Dr. Birla’s consistent contributions underscore her commitment to bridging the gap between theoretical education and industrial application, making a lasting impact on the academic and professional management community.

These copyrighted micro case studies are now part of the national repository of intellectual property and are expected to be widely used across business schools and professional institutions as reference material for teaching and research.
