Udaipur Science Committee Hosts Symposium on Fasting Therapy

Udaipur: Under the Darshan Vigyan Prakoshth of the Udaipur Science Committee, an important symposium on Fasting Therapy was recently organized. Experts from diverse fields deliberated on the significance of fasting in ancient Indian traditions and its therapeutic benefits validated by modern scientific research.

The chief speaker, Prof. Dr. Ashok Jetawat from Pacific University, presented fasting as an effective therapy for disease prevention and treatment. He highlighted scientific evidence showing the benefits of fasting in managing conditions such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension.

In his presidential address, Prof. Dr. Narayan Lal Kachhara emphasized the spiritual and practical aspects of fasting in the Jain tradition. He linked the practice of fasting to Karma-Nirjara, explaining how it promotes deep understanding of the soul while cleansing karmic impressions.

Media coordinator Prof. Vimal Sharma discussed the scientific aspects of intermittent fasting, explaining how it improves metabolism, reduces inflammation, enhances insulin sensitivity, and benefits brain and heart health, establishing it as a highly effective method for long-term wellness.

Other scholars actively participating in the discussion included Dr. K. L. Kothari, Dr. Paras Mal Agrawal, Colonel Dr. Dalpat Singh Baya, Prof. Prem Suman, Dr. K. P. Talesra, and Dr. R. K. Garg. The symposium successfully highlighted fasting as a multidimensional and holistic therapeutic practice, bridging traditional wisdom with modern science.
