National Roadmap for Tourism Development to Be Finalized in Udaipur

Udaipur, renowned worldwide for its lakes and scenic beauty, is set to host the two-day National Tourism Conference under the aegis of the Ministry of Tourism, beginning Tuesday at Hotel Marriott. The conference will bring together Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of State for Tourism Suresh Gopi, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories, and Tourism Ministers from various states.

Under the supervision of District Collector Namit Mehta, all preparations for the high-level event have been completed. Tourism ministers and senior officials from over two dozen states reached Udaipur by Monday evening.

Deliberations on Tourism Development

The conference will begin at 10 AM on Tuesday with an inaugural session, where Tourism Secretary V. Vidyavathi will welcome all delegates and present the program outline. The inaugural address will be followed by guidance and remarks from Union Minister Shekhawat and Minister of State Gopi.

Subsequent sessions will feature presentations from various states showcasing their tourism initiatives and development plans:

First Session: Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, and Uttarakhand

Second Session: Uttar Pradesh, Delhi (NCT), and Rajasthan

Third Session: Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep

Fourth Session: Gujarat and Maharashtra

On Day Two, the focus will shift to the western and central regions with presentations from Goa, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh.
The eastern and northeastern regions—including Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, and Assam—will present their tourism strategies in the following sessions. The afternoon will feature presentations from Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim.

Later, a consultative meeting with states and Union Territories will be held to discuss the draft Integrated Tourism Promotion Scheme, aimed at promoting India as a unified destination in both domestic and international markets. Discussions will also cover the upcoming Sustainable Tourism Development Summit. The valedictory session is scheduled for Wednesday evening at 5:30 PM.

Liaison Officers’ Coordination Meeting

In preparation for the conference, a coordination meeting of liaison officers was held on Monday morning under the guidance of District Collector Namit Mehta at the Collectorate auditorium. ADM City Jitendra Ojha reviewed arrangements for the arrival, reception, accommodation, and transport of dignitaries including Union Ministers, Lieutenant Governors, and State Tourism Ministers.

ADM Ojha emphasized the importance of timely and well-coordinated execution of all responsibilities, stating that this event presents a golden opportunity to showcase Udaipur’s tourism, culture, and hospitality on the national stage. The meeting was attended by Deputy Director of Tourism Shikha Saxena and all liaison officers.
