####World Record to Be Set in Kota with 215-Feet Effigy of Ravana

The 132nd National Dussehra Fair in Kota is set to make history on Vijayadashami with the burning of a 215-feet tall effigy of Ravana, the tallest ever constructed for the festival. The event will be attended by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Education Minister Madan Dilawar, Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar, and legislators Shanti Kumar Dhariwal, Sandeep Sharma, and Kalpana Devi.

Effigy powered by electronic and remote system

Mela Committee Chairman Vivek Rajvanshi informed that the effigy will be ignited using a fully electronic remote-controlled system. Artisan Tejendra Singh Chauhan, who designed the structure, explained that the Ravana effigy is equipped with five pyro points and 20 blasting spots.

The fireworks sequence will begin with blasts at Ravana’s umbrella, followed by the crown, where green, yellow, and blue pyros will ignite in order. Additional blasts will occur in the large face, forehead, chin, shield, shoulders, sword, and even the navel and feet, symbolizing the burning from head to toe. Alongside Ravana, effigies of Meghnad and Kumbhkaran, each 60 feet tall, have also been erected with 10 blasting points and three pyro effects each.

Spectacular fireworks display to follow

After the burning of Ravana, the second phase of the fair will feature a grand fireworks display. The night sky will light up with colorful sparkles, golden shots, and sound-cracking fireworks, mesmerizing the spectators with a dazzling spectacle.

Tallest Ravana effigy in the world

Traditionally, effigies at the Kota fair ranged between 72 to 75 feet. However, inspired by Speaker Om Birla’s vision, this year’s effigy stands at 215 feet, surpassing Delhi’s 210-feet record set in 2024. Though Chandigarh attempted a 221-feet effigy in 2019, it collapsed before being ignited and thus was never recorded. In contrast, Kota’s effigy has been successfully erected, measuring a full 221 feet, making it the tallest standing Ravana effigy in the world.

Recognition by record books

Representatives from the India Book of World Records and Asia Book of World Records will be present during the event to officially measure and certify the achievement. The recognition will mark Kota’s name in the history of world records, establishing it as the host of the tallest Ravana effigy ever burned.
