Governor Hands Over Charge to MPUT VC

Vice-Chancellor Mishra Sent on Long Leave

Udaipur, Governor Haribhau Wangde has taken action against Sukhadia University Vice-Chancellor Sunita Mishra over her recent controversial remarks by sending her on long leave. The charge of the university has been handed over to Ajit Kumar Karnataka, Vice-Chancellor of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUT). This was confirmed by media in-charge Dr. Seema Champawat.

Political Pressure and Demands
BJP district president Gajpal Singh Rathore stated that during Deputy Chief Minister and Higher Education Minister Dr. Premchand Bairwa’s visit to Udaipur, MLA Phoolsingh Meena, district general secretary Devilal Salvi, and former student union president Dr. Pankaj Borana jointly raised the demand for action against the Vice-Chancellor’s statement. The minister had assured them of swift action.

The Controversy and Protests
The controversy erupted after VC Sunita Mishra reportedly described Mughal ruler Aurangzeb as an efficient administrator in a public event. This triggered protests and sit-ins by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and other organizations.

Former student union president Dr. Pankaj Borana welcomed the Governor’s decision, calling it appropriate and expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of Mewar. However, he clarified that the protest will continue until Sunita Mishra is permanently removed from the post of Vice-Chancellor.
