Jaipur Metro Phase-II to be a Game-Changer 42.95 Km Corridor Expected by 2030

Jaipur,  With the foundation stone of a ₹45,000 crore nuclear power plant laid at Banswara by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajasthan is set to receive yet another gift from the Centre this festive season. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Jaipur Metro Rail Project Phase-II is expected to receive Central Cabinet approval in October–November. Once sanctioned, work on the ambitious project will commence on ground based on the approved DPR.

The Internal Finance Department (IFD) of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has already cleared the DPR, marking a key milestone in the approval process. Inter-ministerial consultations are currently underway, and experts suggest that the green signal from the Centre may arrive by late October or early November.

Phase-II of Jaipur Metro proposes a 42.95 km North-South main transit corridor from Todi Mod to Prahladpura, with an estimated cost of ₹12,260 crore. It includes 37 stations—two underground and 35 elevated. The project will be funded jointly by the Central and State governments, with additional financial assistance expected from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

Currently, Phase-I of Jaipur Metro covers a 9.63 km stretch from Mansarovar to Chandpole, with a partial underground extension to Badi Chaupar. While it connects some key parts of the city, Jaipur still awaits a comprehensive metro network.

Benefits of Phase-II Expansion

Direct connectivity to residential, commercial, industrial, educational, and healthcare hubs.

Reduced road traffic congestion, travel time, and accidents.

Lower air pollution and fossil fuel dependence, resulting in improved public health.

Boost in real estate values, new businesses, and urban development around metro stations.

Savings in time, energy, and fuel costs for daily commuters.

If construction begins as scheduled, Jaipur Metro Phase-II is expected to be completed by around 2030.

Transformative Impact
More than a transport initiative, Jaipur Metro’s expansion represents a transformation in lifestyle, economy, urban planning, and environmental sustainability for the Pink City. Though challenges remain in terms of execution, transparency, and timely completion, the project has the potential to emerge as a true game-changer for Jaipur’s future.
