The Smart India Hackathon, one of the most prestigious national competitions, is conducted annually by the Innovation Cell of the Ministry of Education and AICTE. The event challenges higher education institutions across India to provide innovative software and hardware solutions to real-life problems identified by various ministries, organizations, and departments of the Government of India. CTAE has consistently delivered outstanding performances in this competition, with its teams securing first and second positions at the national level in both domains over previous years.

Dr. Navneet Agrawal, Head of Electronics Engineering Department and SPOC for SIH-2025, informed that this year, the Government of India has released a total of 135 problem statements—90 in the software category and 45 in the hardware category. These problems span multiple ministries including the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), National Investigation Agency (NIA), Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Railways. From these, CTAE students are attempting to solve select challenges with innovative and unique approaches.

A total of 23 teams from CTAE, each comprising six members, participated in this internal round. As mandated under SIH-2025, all teams made detailed PowerPoint presentations before the jury members, showcasing their proposed solutions. The presentation themes covered a wide spectrum including Agriculture, Food and Rural Management, Smart Education, Urban Traffic Management Systems, Blockchain and Cyber Security, Fitness and Sports, Medical Biotechnology, Health Technology, and Smart & Protective Irrigation.

The jury panel for this screening included eminent faculty members: Dr. B. L. Salvi, Professor of Mechanical Engineering; Dr. N. L. Panwar, Head of Renewable Energy; Dr. Naveen Jain, Professor of Electrical Engineering; Dr. Kalpana Jain, Head of Computer Engineering; Dr. Shruti Gupta; Dr. Nitika Bairwa; Rashmi Suthar; and Gaurav Vasita. Extending congratulations, Vice Chancellor Dr. Ajeet Kumar Karnatak and Dean Dr. Sunil Joshi applauded all participating teams for their innovative spirit and conveyed best wishes for their performance at the national stage.

The selected teams will compete at the National Grand Finale of SIH-2025, where the Government of India will recognize the best solutions under each theme with a cash award of ₹1 lakh per team in both software and hardware categories.
