####Cambridge Scientists to Speak in Udaipur on “What Makes Us Human”

The Cambridge India Research Foundation in collaboration with Vidya Bhavan proudly presents a special lecture by world-renowned scientists:

Prof. Anna Philpott – Pro Vice-Chancellor, University of Cambridge & Head of Cambridge Stem Cell Institute
Prof. Benjamin D. Simons – Director, Gurdon Institute, University of Cambridge

The lecture, themed “What Makes Us Human”, will explore groundbreaking discoveries at Cambridge University on human embryos, cells, and the nervous system, shedding light on cancer, neurological disorders, and age-related diseases, and how precise treatments are being developed.

Highlights:

Prof. Philpott’s research focuses on how embryonic cells decide their fate, how cell division is regulated, and how these processes are subverted in cancer. Her lab uses Xenopus (frog) eggs and embryos to study fundamental mechanisms of cell fate and differentiation.

Prof. Simons combines physics, mathematics, and computational techniques to study human tissue development, regeneration, and disease using advanced organ cultures and mathematical modeling.

The event will bring together scientists, doctors, students, and curious citizens interested in human development and the future of medical research.

Vidya Bhavan, established in 1931, celebrates a rich history of innovation and education. Moving towards its centenary, it continues to evolve while staying true to its mission of fostering an inclusive, self-reliant, and empowered society.
