Convener of the Seva Samiti, Hemant Gakhreja, stated that according to religious beliefs, it was on the tenth day of the Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month that Lord Shri Ram killed Ravana and established truth and dharma. Since then, this day has been celebrated as Vijayadashami.
Panchayat President Nankaram Kasturi informed that this year’s event will be organized on a grand scale. Members of the Panchayat and Samiti have been allotted specific responsibilities for different departments, including stage arrangements, fireworks, and tableaux, ensuring smooth management of the festival.
Narendra Kathuria of the Seva Samiti said that this will be the 77th Vijayadashami celebration in Udaipur. Commemorating the victory of Lord Ram over Ravana, the festival continues to inspire the people of Udaipur with the message of religion, culture, and brotherhood.
General Secretary Vijay Ahuja shared that this year’s event will be even more spectacular. A 70-foot effigy of Ravana along with 65-foot effigies of Meghnath and Kumbhkaran are being constructed at Gandhi Ground. In addition, a 100-foot-long golden Lanka will be a special attraction. These massive structures are being crafted by an expert team led by Shakir Ali from Mathura.
“Each passing year, the height of Ravana increases,” Ahuja said. “This year, the people of Udaipur will witness an even larger effigy being consigned to flames.”
Seva Samiti’s Manoj Kataria highlighted that, as always, this program will unite devotees from across the city. While artisans are giving the final touches to the effigies of Ravana, Meghnath, and Kumbhkaran, committee members are actively working to ensure flawless arrangements.
On Dussehra night, Gandhi Ground will once again resonate with patriotic and religious chants. Amidst fireworks, cultural tableaux, and a massive gathering, the burning of the 70-foot Ravana will echo the eternal message of truth’s triumph over falsehood.
During the meeting, Manish Demla was unanimously elected as the Joint Secretary of Shri Sanatan Dharma Seva Samiti. All committee members welcomed him warmly.
The meeting also saw active participation and suggestions from Gurumukh Kasturi, Jitendra Talreja, Kamal Sonu Talreja, Vicky Thadwani, Mukesh Gakhreja, Harish Bhatia, Dheeraj Tulsija, Holaram Chhoda, Vijay Kasturi, Sumit Kasturi, among others.
The session was chaired by Prakash Budhraj.
