Global Symposium on Indian Time Reckoning and Astrology Begins in Udaipur Today

Udaipur – A two-day international symposium on “Indian Time Reckoning, Panchang and Astrology” is set to begin today at Pratap Gaurav Kendra ‘Rashtriya Teerth’, Udaipur. The event, jointly organized by the Rajasthan Devasthan Department, Pratap Gaurav Kendra and Sanskriti Vikas Sansthan, will take place on September 13–14 and bring together renowned scholars, Panchang experts, time-calculation specialists, and astrologers from India and abroad.

The symposium aims to highlight the scientific accuracy, utility, and cultural relevance of Indian time reckoning and astrology. Director of Pratap Gaurav Kendra, Anurag Saxena, stated that the dialogue will examine the inseparable link between history and time measurement, exploring the philosophical, scientific, and cultural aspects of India’s ancient calendar system. Sessions will cover Panchang and date calculation, planetary calculations, Muhurat, astrology, and helio-biology, as well as the role of astrology in plant science and disease prevention.

Convener Dheeraj Boda informed that the symposium will be inaugurated at 10 AM on Saturday. The keynote address will be delivered by RSS Rajasthan Kshetra Pracharak Nimbarm, with Devasthan Minister Joraram Kumawat as the chief guest and Udaipur Range IG Gaurav Srivastava as the special guest. The inaugural session will be chaired by Colonel S. S. Sangar Devot, Vice-Chancellor of Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University.

Assistant Commissioner of the Devasthan Department, Jatin Gandhi, announced that senior officials including Principal Secretary Krishna Kant Pathak, Commissioner Kanhaiyalal Swami, Additional Commissioner Ashok Suthar, Deputy Commissioner Sunil Mattad, Assistant Commissioner Jatin Gandhi, Inspector Shivraj Singh Rathore, and Manager Sumitra Singh will also attend.

On the first day, presentations will be delivered by scholars such as Acharya Darshanay Lokesh (Noida), Ravi Shankar (New Delhi), Dr. Bharat Bhushan Ojha (Udaipur), Dr. Jyoti Babu Jain (Udaipur), Sumit Kumar Jain (Udaipur), and Surendra Kumar Bisht (Mumbai) on Indian time reckoning. This will be followed by a session on Panchang and date calculation led by Acharya Pramod (Nepal), Alok Sharma (Ghaziabad), and Dr. Arun Upadhyay (Bhubaneswar). The day will conclude with a session on astrology and helio-biology featuring Dr. Arun Prakash (Delhi), Chandrashekhar Pancholi (Udaipur), and Pratap Singh Jhala (Udaipur).

On the second day, sessions will focus on “Astrology: Predictive and Mathematical Aspects” with participation from scholars including Harishchandra Sharma, Muralidhar Joshi, Dr. Alaknanda Sharma, Bhagyash Dave, Manish Joshi, Piyush Dashora, Akhand Pratap Singh, and Om Vyas. The valedictory session will be held at 2 PM, with RSS Rajasthan Regional Executive Member Hanuman Singh as keynote speaker, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa as chief guest, Principal Secretary K. K. Pathak as special guest, and Prof. Bhagwati Prakash Sharma, President of Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap Committee, presiding.

Pratap Gaurav Research Centre Director Dr. Vivek Bhatnagar added that a preparatory meeting was held on Friday, where arriving scholars were welcomed and their suggestions incorporated.
