AIRFIELD ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING

Jaipur, The biannual Airfield Environmental Management Committee meeting was held at Air Force Station Jodhpur on 09 Sep 25. The meeting was chaired by Dr. (Mrs) Pratibha Singh, Divisional Commissioner Jodhpur with Air Commodore J Sreeram, VM, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Jodhpur in attendance. The meeting was also attended by Collector and District Magistrate Jodhpur, Representatives of Police Commissioner Jodhpur City, Commissioner JDA, CEO Jodhpur Nagar Nigam, DFO, the Airport manager and other Representatives of Jodhpur city administration and Air Force Station Jodhpur.

 

            The meeting began with complimenting the efforts of State Administration and CCF officials under the leadership of DC and  personnel of Air Force Station Jodhpur for successfully relocating blue bulls; thereby reducing the hazard to aviation. Thereafter, the meeting reviewed various environmental concerns in and around Jodhpur airfield such as, open drainages, unauthorized dwellings and other bird infestation areas, which were the primary causes of bird hits on military and civil aircraft operating from Jodhpur airfield.

 

            During the meeting, the committee recognized the urgent need to resolve the bird menace around the Air Force Station with a strong emphasis for continuous monitoring and evaluation of environmental conditions and spread awareness amongst civil populace for preventive actions to mitigate the bird menace. The aim was to create a safer and more sustainable environment for aviation as well as surrounding inhabitants, through a well coordinated approach.
