16th National Children’s Literature Conference held in Udaipur

Dr. Prabhat Singhal Honored with “Salila Sahitya Ratna” Award

Kota, Renowned Kota-based author Dr. Prabhat Kumar Singhal was conferred with the “Salila Sahitya Ratna” award at the 16th National Children’s Literature Conference organized jointly by Salila Sanstha and the Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi in Udaipur.

He was honored for his acclaimed book “Baal Man Tak”. Guests at the event praised his consistent efforts to connect children with literature in Kota, describing his contributions as “inspirational and exemplary.”

Each awardee was presented with a felicitation letter, a shawl, an “uparna,” a cash reward, and a ceremonial garland.

A Grand Literary Gathering

The conference was held at the Auditorium of the Directorate of Adult Education, Udaipur.

The Inaugural and Felicitation Session was chaired by Dr. Ajit Kumar Karnataka, Vice Chancellor, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology.

Jayanti Ranganathan (Editor, Nandan & Executive Editor, Hindustan Group) graced the event as the Chief Guest.

Distinguished guests included Dr. Satish Kumar, Shyam Palat Pandey, Kumud Verma, along with the institution’s Chairperson and Convener Dr. Vimla Bhandari.

The program began with lighting of the ceremonial lamp before Goddess Saraswati, followed by a Saraswati Vandana by Shakuntala Swarooparia.

Deepa Panth presented the institution’s song.

Madhu Maheshwari rendered the welcome song.

Pakhi Jain performed a children’s song.

The thematic introduction was presented by Dr. Vimla Bhandari.

Twelve children’s literature books were released on this occasion by distinguished guests.

Keynote Addresses

In his presidential address, Prof. Ajit Kumar Karnataka emphasized:
“It is the child within you that keeps you alive. Children’s literature and children’s songs are the best means to keep life vibrant and joyous.”
He also appealed for the promotion of Hindi and Sanskrit as national languages.

Chief Guest Jayanti Ranganathan delivered a keynote on “Children’s Songs and the Child’s Mind”. She stressed the need to engage children with songs and stories in order to free them from the harmful addiction of mobile phones.

Presence of Distinguished Scholars

The conference witnessed the presence of eminent writers and scholars from six states across India, including:
Jagdish Bhandari, Dr. Vimal Sharma, Madhu Maheshwari, Mukesh Rao, Shantilal Sharma, Manila Porwal, Meenu Tripathi, Col. Praveen Tripathi, Lal Devendra Kumar Srivastava, Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Prakash Nebhnani, Dr. Faheem Ahmed, Balbir Singh, Anita Gangadhar Sharma, Acharya Narendra Shastri, Chakradhar Shukla, Dr. Sarita Gupta, Shiv Mohan Yadav, Nandkishore Nirjhar, Banwari Lal Pareek, Dr. Gopal Raj Gopal, Shyam Mathpal, Sapna Jain Shah, Purushottam Shakdwipi, and Ramdayal Mehra, among many other literature enthusiasts.
