Udaipur.District Collector Namit Mehta on Friday afternoon visited the Maharana Pratap Sports Village located at Chitrakoot Nagar to review ongoing development works. During the inspection, he assessed the progress of facilities under the Chief Minister’s budget announcements as well as projects being carried out by the Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) and issued necessary directives.
The inspection was accompanied by UDA Commissioner Rahul Jain, District Sports Officer Dr. Mahesh Paliwal, RSRDC officials, and senior engineers.
Visit to Gym and Cricket Stadium
The Collector first reviewed the newly built indoor gym and open gym. Appreciating the modern equipment and facilities, he directed officials to promote its usage widely. He then inspected the cricket stadium and the pavilion under construction. Commissioner Jain informed that the pavilion would be completed by January 2026, after which large tournaments could be hosted. The Collector suggested organizing regular competitions to strengthen the sporting environment.
Directions for Shooting Ranges
Inspecting the 10-meter shooting range, Mehta instructed for necessary improvements and took note of photographs of national and international shooters. He also directed the separate construction of the proposed 25-meter and 50-meter shooting ranges.
Athletics and Hockey Stadium Observations
At the athletics stadium, he emphasized the need for changing rooms and sanitation facilities, particularly for women athletes. He also inspected the hockey stadium.
Lacrosse Ground and Skating Track
The Collector visited the under-construction lacrosse ground and directed to accelerate the pace of work while ensuring quality standards. He suggested building a skating track along the periphery of the lacrosse ground.
Completion of Multipurpose Indoor Stadium
Inspecting the under-construction multipurpose indoor stadium, he remarked that such a large hall dedicated to sports would be unique in Rajasthan apart from Jaipur. He instructed RSRDC’s Project Director, Lalchand Verma, to expedite completion.
Details of Revenue and Expenditure from Sports Facilities
The Collector sought details of revenue generation and maintenance expenditure from various sports stadiums. He directed the District Sports Officer to prepare sport-wise reports.
Water Conservation Structures Emphasized
Reviewing water harvesting systems in the campus, Mehta emphasized the need for natural water structures. He instructed UDA officials to identify locations and create pond-like reservoirs within the sports village.
The inspection was attended by UDA Chief Engineer Sanjeev Sharma, Executive Engineer Neeraj Mathur, Rajeev Gupta, and other officials.
