Udaipur, While the entire nation was celebrating the spirit of freedom on Independence Day, a group of animal lovers in Udaipur observed the occasion as a ‘Day of Disappointment.’ Gathering peacefully at the Fatehsagar Pal, they expressed their discontent through a silent protest, highlighting the neglect of animals’ freedom and rights with calmness and sensitivity.
Participants including Shaili Srivastava, Neha Ji, Rukmani Jain, Dr. Mala Mattha, Kiran Bhavsar, and Akshita Jain conveyed that Independence Day would remain incomplete for them until animals are granted the right to live with dignity and freedom. It was stated that recent decisions by the Supreme Court and the Rajasthan High Court, perceived as being against animal rights, had deeply hurt them. The question was raised — “Should freedom be meant only for humans?”
On this occasion, Mahatma Gandhi’s words were recalled: “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”
The protest was described as a peaceful yet profound initiative aimed at safeguarding animal rights and awakening the moral conscience of society.
