Udaipur, The Pratap Gaurav Kendra ‘Rashtriya Teerth’ will mark Independence Day alongside the grand launch of its Janmashtami festival from August 15 to 17, offering visitors special discounted entry rates for three days.
According to Director Anurag Saxena, the center, operated under the Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap Samiti, will host a series of cultural and devotional programs during the festival. On August 15, the celebrations will begin with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by the commencement of the Janmashtami Mela. Visitors to Bhaktidham will be able to enjoy free darshan, while entry fees for the main center and the evening water laser show “Mewar Ki Shauryagatha” will be reduced to ₹50.
The fair will feature various stalls, amusement rides, and cultural performances. Stall bookings have already begun, and preparations are in full swing.
Event coordinator Shambhu Gameti said the festivities will open on August 15 at 7 p.m. with Nav Manorat, followed by a Raslila performance and devotional music. On August 16, the day will start at 7 a.m. with a Panchamrit Abhishek of Lord Krishna, followed by prasad distribution. The afternoon will feature a tableau competition (1–5 p.m.), with schools and organizations depicting episodes from Krishna’s life.
In the evening, a Dahi Handi competition will be held at 7 p.m., where youth teams will recreate Krishna’s butter-stealing exploits; the winning team will receive a prize of ₹51,000.
Co-convener V.K. Singh announced that the festival will conclude on August 17 with a costume competition at 2 p.m., where children, girls, and mothers can dress as Krishna, Radha, Balram, Yashoda, and other characters from Krishna’s life.
