Udaipur — A long-standing demand for the restoration of public access to the Shri Narayneshwar Mahadev Temple and adjoining stepwell near Nagar Ghat (Ward 12) has gained momentum, with local residents submitting a memorandum to the Municipal Commissioner, District Collector, and Superintendent of Police.
Residents allege that illegal encroachments have blocked the temple pathway, built boundary walls, fencing, and tin sheds, restricting devotees’ right to worship. They have urged the authorities to immediately reopen the route and free the temple premises from occupation.
The memorandum also highlighted safety concerns at Nagar Ghat, where the absence of lighting during evening aarti creates difficulties for women and elderly visitors. The residents have appealed for light poles to be installed without delay.
Municipal Commissioner assured that an investigation would be carried out promptly, and necessary steps — including removal of encroachments and installation of lighting — would be taken to provide relief to the public.
