Mining Department Services to Go Online in Phases: Major Mineral Auction to Diversify – Principal Secretary T. Ravikant

Udaipur:Principal Secretary of Mines and Petroleum, Shri T. Ravikant, announced that all services of the Department of Mines and Geology will be made available online in a phased manner. During a review meeting held at the Udaipur Minerals Office on Saturday with Director Shri Deepak Tanwar and senior officials, he emphasized the need to diversify auctions of major mineral blocks and not limit them to limestone alone.

He stated that Rajasthan has abundant reserves of other major minerals which should be brought into the auction fold. A comprehensive strategy must be devised to enhance revenue collection and expedite the recovery of long-standing dues. The department has already started witnessing positive outcomes from the online issuance of mining plans and no-dues certificates. This digitization will lead to more transparency, time-bound execution, improved efficiency, and significant savings for stakeholders in both time and cost.

Shri Ravikant highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, Rajasthan has made a national mark in the auctioning of major minerals. He stressed the need to fast-track exploration and auctioning of minerals beyond limestone and to bring auctioned mines into operational mode at the earliest. He directed that while delineating blocks, areas with potential hindrances such as grazing lands must be excluded to avoid delays in obtaining clearances. He also instructed the optimal utilization of NMET funds received from the Government of India for developing essential infrastructure in departmental offices.

Director Mines, Shri Deepak Tanwar, informed that the online approval of mining plans and the issuance of no-dues certificates has greatly benefitted leaseholders. In a short span, 117 no-dues certificates have been obtained directly by leaseholders through the online system without physically visiting the department. Similarly, 99 mining plans have been received through the online portal and are being processed at various levels.

The department is also accelerating the process from delineation to auction of mineral blocks through a well-structured action plan. Present at the meeting were Additional Director (Administration) O.P. Bunkar, P.R. Ameta, ADG Gopalaram, Financial Advisor Girish Kachhara, Superintendent Mining Engineer Bheem Singh, Diwan Singh Dewda, Kamleshwar Baregama, Dr. Dharmendra Lohar, S.P. Sharma, Satish Arya, SG Nitin Chaudhary, Mining Engineer Asif Ansari, and ACP Jayesh Neenama, who shared updates from their respective domains.
