Garib Rath Express Engine Fire Averts Major Disaster

Beawar, A major rail tragedy was narrowly avoided early Saturday morning when a fire broke out in the engine of the Mumbai–Delhi Garib Rath Express (Train No. 12216) near Sendra railway station, close to Beawar in Rajasthan.

The incident occurred around 3:00 AM, while the train was en route from Bandra (Mumbai) to Sarai Rohilla (Delhi). Approximately 500 passengers were aboard at the time.

Thanks to the quick response of the loco pilot, who noticed smoke and immediately halted the train, all passengers were safely evacuated, and the fire was contained before it could reach the passenger coaches.

Fire Confined to Engine; No Casualties

Railway officials confirmed that the fire remained confined to the engine, preventing what could have been a devastating accident. Emergency teams reached the spot promptly, controlled the situation, and arranged alternative transportation for the stranded passengers.

Technical Malfunction Suspected

Initial investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by a technical fault or short circuit in the engine. The damaged engine has been detached, and track restoration is underway to resume regular rail operations. Other trains on the route were temporarily slowed down for safety.

Train Route Details

The Garib Rath Express usually operates non-stop between Abu Road and Ajmer, and does not halt at Sendra station. However, due to the fire and reduced speed, timely action became possible, averting a potentially catastrophic incident.

Railway authorities have assured a detailed inquiry and emphasized the importance of engine maintenance and real-time safety monitoring to prevent such occurrences in the future.
