Udaipur, The peaceful protest by contractual and MFS (Self-Financed Scheme) employees working under the self-financed advisory board at Mohanlal Sukhadia University entered its fifth consecutive day. The protesting staff, raising five key demands, expressed deep dissatisfaction over the continued indifference of the university administration.
Mr. Narayan Lal Salvi, President of the Contractual/SFS Employees’ Association of the university, stated that no university official has come forward to initiate any dialogue with the employees even on the fifth day of the protest. Meanwhile, administrative and academic services have come to a standstill, causing severe inconvenience to students, especially those from tribal regions who travelled to the university for exams, degrees, diplomas, and mark sheets, only to return without answers.
According to Salvi, not a single dean or director of the university made an effort to speak to the protesting employees. At a time when counseling for college admissions is underway, university operations across various departments have come to a halt.
Today, while employees continued their peaceful protest near the administrative building, the Vice Chancellor reportedly issued instructions to remove them from the premises. Despite heavy rainfall, male and female staff were forced to sit on the wet road. Undeterred by this authoritarian action, the employees carried on their protest sitting on the rain-soaked ground. When the employees surrounded the main gate, the Vice Chancellor had to exit through the back gate, avoiding direct confrontation with the protesters.
The protesting employees alleged that the university administration has made their condition miserable — expecting them to work without issuing formal work or salary orders. They claimed that the protest will continue tomorrow as well in opposition to the administration’s unjust policies and exploitative mentality.
Through their demonstration, the employees sent a clear message: “The era of ‘Yes Boss’ has no place in democracy... what is wrong, is wrong.”
