Government Committed to the Interests of Traders: Praveen Khandelwal

Udaipur: “The Central Government is determined to increase India’s share in international exports. For this, it is essential that the manufacturing industry produces quality products at a lower cost. The government is committed to facilitating trade and providing maximum support to businesses,” said Praveen Khandelwal during his visit to Udaipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI).

A discussion session was organized at the Pyrotech Tempsons Auditorium of the UCCI Building by Udaipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry with Praveen Khandelwal, Member of Parliament from Chandni Chowk, New Delhi, and the Honorary Secretary General of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).

Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, Khandelwal shared that under the Government’s ease-of-doing-business initiative, 35,000 obsolete laws have been repealed to streamline business operations.

He informed that a new sector in trade is rapidly emerging — under the rules, the waste generator will now be responsible for recycling the waste, a regulation that will also apply to the smallest of shops. Entrepreneurs and traders must be aware of and comply with these rules.

He emphasized the government’s clear agenda to promote digitization, skill development, and ease of doing business to encourage industry and trade.

As part of the digitization effort, 84 lakh government files have already been digitized. Khandelwal urged traders to digitize their own business operations to prevent discrepancies and improve transparency.

To address concerns regarding GST, a Group of Ministers meeting is scheduled for August, where necessary amendments to the GST Act will be discussed. Khandelwal requested UCCI to send its GST-related suggestions ahead of this meeting.

He also mentioned that while the government has launched nearly 70 schemes to support MSMEs, many entrepreneurs remain unaware of them. Detailed information about these schemes can be obtained from District Industries Centres.

Khandelwal highlighted special incentive schemes for women entrepreneurs to make them financially self-reliant, and shared details of youth entrepreneurship promotion schemes and skill development training initiatives being conducted nationwide to enhance employment.

The program began with a welcome address by UCCI President Manish Galundia, who shared the chamber’s efforts to promote trade and commerce. Hasina Chhakiwala, Honorary Treasurer, introduced Mr. Khandelwal.

During the open discussion session, entrepreneurs, traders, and representatives from various business associations of Udaipur expressed their views.

The session was moderated by Ashish Chhabra, and attended by past presidents and prominent members including M.L. Lunawat, Subhash Singhvi, Omprakash Nagda, Dinesh Chandra Jhanwar, Prakashchandra Bolia, Punit Pokharna, R.K. Heda, O.P. Saini, Mamta Jain, Dinesh Rajpal, Vaibhav Jain and many others.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Ashish Chhabra, Honorary Secretary General.
